iraniens sont actuellement en salles, revenons sur une autre production qui nous vient de la R\u00e9publique islamique persane qui est sorti sans faire trop de bruit en mars dernier, et d\u00e9sormais disponible en VOD.<\/p><p>\u00ab\u00a0Chroniques de T\u00e9h\u00e9ran\u00a0\u00bb est une \u0153uvre qui nous happe d\u00e8s ses premi\u00e8res minutes par sa forme singuli\u00e8re\u00a0: c\u2019est une collection de vignettes toutes tourn\u00e9es dans un cadre 4\/3 serr\u00e9, et en plan fixe sans discontinu. C\u2019est une s\u00e9rie de confrontations entre des citoyens iraniens et des repr\u00e9sentants d\u2019une autorit\u00e9 (qu\u2019elle soit scolaire, sanitaire ou autres) et c\u2019est donc une succession de plans-s\u00e9quences qui nous plonge dans la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 des faits o\u00f9 le concitoyen est cadr\u00e9 en plan moyen quand l\u2019interlocuteur du r\u00e9gime est lui en hors-champ. On ne voit alors que la r\u00e9action des concitoyens face aux lois, aux restrictions et aux obligations du r\u00e9gime. Et on se retrouve, de fait, du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du r\u00e9gime puisqu\u2019\u00e0 chaque fois que l\u2019incrimin\u00e9 s\u2019adresse \u00e0 son autorit\u00e9, il nous prend \u00e0 t\u00e9moin \u00e0 travers la cam\u00e9ra. On ne voit jamais le r\u00e9gime, nous le sommes et le devenons (jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la derni\u00e8re sc\u00e8ne) \u2026 le geste est implacable.<\/p><p>Cette galerie de vignettes est un dispositif qui pourrait para\u00eetre r\u00e9p\u00e9titif mais \u00ab\u00a0Chroniques de T\u00e9h\u00e9ran\u00a0\u00bb reste un moyen-m\u00e9trage et donc suffisamment court pour que le rythme d\u2019une succession d\u2019histoires comme celle-ci ne devienne frustrant. Au contraire avec ces sc\u00e8nes compl\u00e8tement d\u00e9connect\u00e9es les unes des autres (et presque jamais r\u00e9solues), cela cr\u00e9e une image globale tr\u00e8s percutante et accentue l\u2019impression d\u2019une m\u00e9canique froide, comme une radiographie du quotidien iranien. C\u2019est \u00e9videmment un film \u00e0 charge, mais qui reste donc tr\u00e8s subtil dans son traitement pour ausculter la violence ordinaire d\u2019un tel r\u00e9gime o\u00f9 ironiquement et symboliquement l\u2019autorit\u00e9 est ici invisible. Il d\u00e9peint l\u2019absurdit\u00e9 et la rigidit\u00e9 d\u2019un syst\u00e8me o\u00f9 les autorit\u00e9s ne cherchent jamais vraiment \u00e0 aider leurs concitoyens mais plut\u00f4t \u00e0 les enfermer dans un moule sans trop savoir pourquoi ni comment.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12550 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>Cette forme tr\u00e8s originale offre donc non seulement une illustration synth\u00e9tique et symbolique de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, mais tient aussi plus simplement d\u2019une n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 politique. En effet, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 en mai 2023 \u00e0 Cannes dans la s\u00e9lection \u2018Un Certain Regard\u2019, ce film na\u00eet justement du contrepied pris par le duo Ali Asgari et Alireza Khatami face aux obstacles \u00e9rig\u00e9s par le r\u00e9gime. Quand le second se voit refuser son nouveau projet, il d\u00e9cide alors d\u2019autofinancer ce nouveau film et de le tourner dans l\u2019urgence en sept jours sous la forme de neuf histoires, neuf dialogues, avec neuf acteurs diff\u00e9rents (sans leur r\u00e9v\u00e9ler qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un m\u00eame projet) puisqu\u2019en Iran, les courts-m\u00e9trages ne sont pas soumis \u00e0 une autorisation pr\u00e9alable de tournage.<\/p><p>Ce n\u2019est donc pas une production d\u2019exil, mais c\u2019est tout autant critique (avec en plus la malice de contournement de l\u2019objet justement critiqu\u00e9). C\u2019est une \u0153uvre qui sonne juste et s\u2019impose avant tout comme symbolique \u00e0 l\u2019image de sa derni\u00e8re s\u00e9quence qui change compl\u00e8tement de registre par rapport aux neuf chroniques pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes en renversant pour une seule fois le point de vue. A travers un changement de cadre \u2013 plus \u00e9largi, o\u00f9 le repr\u00e9sentant de l\u2019Etat se retrouve bien seul par opposition au cadre pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent qui enfermait jusqu\u2019ici sa population \u2013 et une absence de r\u00e9action, le film conclut ainsi sur un r\u00e9gime qui ne change pas et ne changera jamais (\u00e0 l\u2019horizon s\u00e9culaire) pas m\u00eame \u00e9branl\u00e9 par une crise ou un tremblement de terre o\u00f9 l\u2019on pourrait m\u00eame y voir l\u2019analogie \u00e9voqu\u00e9e plus t\u00f4t avec l\u2019arsenal nucl\u00e9aire \u2026<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42480e6 elementor-widget__width-initial exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"42480e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>While two very good Iranian films are currently in theaters in France, let&rsquo;s take a look back at another production from the Persian Islamic Republic, released quietly a few months back.<\/p><p>\u201cTerrestrial Verses\u201d grabs us from its very first minutes with its singular form: it&rsquo;s a collection of vignettes, all shot in a tight 4:3 frame, and in fixed, uninterrupted shots. It&rsquo;s a series of confrontations between Iranian citizens and representatives of an authority (whether school, health or other), and so it&rsquo;s a series of oners that bring us into the reality of the situation, where the fellow citizen is framed in medium shot while the regime&rsquo;s spokesperson is off-screen. All we see is the reaction of the citizens to the regime&rsquo;s laws, restrictions and requirements. And we find ourselves, de facto, on the regime&rsquo;s side, since every time the individual in question addresses his authority, he makes us his witness through the camera. We never see the regime, we stand for it and become it (until the very last scene) &#8230; the act is remarkable.<\/p><p>This collection of scenes may seem repetitive, but \u201cTerrestrial Verses\u201d remains a medium-length film, and is therefore short enough to prevent the pace of a series of stories like this from becoming frustrating. Instead, with these scenes completely disconnected from each other (and almost never fully resolved), it creates a very striking overall picture and enhances the feeling of a cold process, like an X-ray of everyday Iranian life. It&rsquo;s obviously a highly critical film, but one that remains very subtle in its approach to the ordinary violence of such a regime, where, ironically and symbolically, authority is invisible. It depicts the absurdity and rigidity of a system where the rulers are never really interested in helping their fellow citizens, but rather in fitting them into a mold without really knowing why or how.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12550 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737.png 1500w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737-1024x529.png 1024w, https:\/\/rsgproduction.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Snapshot_1737-768x397.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/p><p>This highly original approach offers not only a synthetic and symbolic depiction of society, but also, more simply, reflects a political necessity. Presented in May 2023 at Cannes in the &lsquo;Un Certain Regard&rsquo; selection, this film was born of the reversal of course taken by the duo Ali Asgari and Alireza Khatami in the face of the hurdles set up by the regime. When Khatami&rsquo;s new project was rejected, he decided to finance this new one himself and shoot it in seven days, as nine stories, nine dialogues, with nine different actors (without revealing to them that it was the same project), since in Iran, short films are not subject to prior authorization.<\/p><p>So, this is not a production from exile, but it is just as sharply critical (with the added guile of circumventing the very thing being criticized). It&rsquo;s a film that rings true, and is above all symbolic, as demonstrated by its final sequence, which completely shifts the focus from the previous nine chronicles, reversing the point of view for once. Through a change of aspect ratio \u2013 more open, where the representative of the state finds himself quite alone, as opposed to the previous frame which up until now confined his population \u2013 and a lack of response, the film thus concludes on a regime that does not change and will never change (on the secular horizon), not even shaken by a crisis or an earthquake, where we could even draw
