Depuis le Covid, le studio d\u2019animation am\u00e9ricain avait en effet d\u2019abord \u00e9t\u00e9 cantonn\u00e9 \u00e0 des sorties streaming et n\u2019avait ensuite pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 retrouver sa gloire d\u2019antan. Le superbe \u00ab\u00a0\u00c9l\u00e9mentaire\u00a0\u00bb avait ainsi sign\u00e9 le pire d\u00e9marrage du studio (quelque peu rattrap\u00e9 par un bon bouche-\u00e0-oreille) l\u2019an dernier. \u201cVice-Versa 2\u201d s\u2019impose alors comme le renouveau de <em>Pixar<\/em> avec une excellente suite intelligente et sensible qui conquiert \u00e0 nouveau les salles de par le monde\u00a0: un film tr\u00e8s riche pour petits et grands\u00a0!<\/p><p>Il y a d\u00e9j\u00e0 neuf ans, le studio \u00e0 la lampe r\u00e9ussissait l\u2019exploit de rendre concr\u00e8tes des id\u00e9es abstraites telles que les \u00e9motions qui nous traversent \u00e0 chaque instant, tout en d\u00e9cortiquant avec humour et sensibilit\u00e9 nos comportements. C\u2019est bien simple, il s\u2019agissait de l\u2019un des films les plus originaux et inventif \u2013 aussi bien th\u00e9matiquement que visuellement \u2013 du studio am\u00e9ricain en pla\u00e7ant son spectateur en situation d\u2019identification et lui faisant prendre conscience de nos op\u00e9rations mentales gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son magnifique syst\u00e8me all\u00e9gorique qui fait des \u00e9motions les personnages et de notre cerveau le d\u00e9cor de l\u2019aventure. Dans la lign\u00e9e du pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, nous revoil\u00e0 donc dans la t\u00eate de Riley \u00e0 un \u00e2ge charni\u00e8re propice au chamboulement int\u00e9rieur et donc \u00e0 l\u2019intervention de nouvelles \u00e9motions comme Envie, Embarras, Ennui et surtout l\u2019omnipr\u00e9sente Anxi\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p><p>Cette derni\u00e8re va rapidement mener la danse entre enjeux d\u2019int\u00e9gration sociale, dilemmes entre amiti\u00e9 et opportunit\u00e9, ou questions de physique. Si l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 prend le dessus, il est vrai qu\u2019on ne fait plus rien, mais le film s\u2019attarde \u00e0 montrer qu\u2019elle n\u2019est pas qu\u2019un vilain d\u00e9faut et peut apporter un certain recul, et comme toutes les autres \u00e9motions de Riley, l\u2019aider \u00e0 grandir. Pour cela, <em>Pixar<\/em> opte pour une d\u00e9finition compr\u00e9hensible pour les enfants et un design \u00e9vocateur\u00a0: elle est l\u00e0 pour prot\u00e9ger Riley des dangers qu\u2019elle ne peut pas voir venir et, rong\u00e9e par son stress communicatif, elle est toujours en alerte avec ses yeux globuleux et semble avoir pris un coup de jus avec ses cheveux en palmier.<\/p><p>Ce second volet aborde donc avec intelligence le passage d\u00e9licat de l\u2019enfance \u00e0 l\u2019adolescence avec des questions et des situations universelles qui raviront la nostalgie de toutes et tous. S\u2019il prolonge en grande partie l\u2019univers visuel et all\u00e9gorique du premier, \u201cVice-Versa 2\u201d introduit \u00e9galement de nouveaux concepts int\u00e9ressants \u00e0 l\u2019image du courant de pens\u00e9e ou de l\u2019estime de soi tout en creusant la question de la m\u00e9moire, des \u00e9motions refoul\u00e9es ou du syst\u00e8me de croyances \u2013 ces id\u00e9es n\u00e9es de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience v\u00e9cue qui forgent progressivement une identit\u00e9. Le film r\u00e9ussit donc \u00e0 sensibiliser les enfants \u00e0 leur propre complexit\u00e9 tout en d\u00e9livrant une aventure et des personnages attachants et amusants. C\u2019est aussi un tr\u00e8s beau film visuellement, dans la lign\u00e9e du premier, mais qui se permet de d\u00e9passer son propre style avec quelques incursions inattendues d\u2019animation 2D ou de jeux vid\u00e9o.<\/p><p>N\u00e9anmoins, vu l\u2019immense potentiel d\u2019un tel film reprenant le concept g\u00e9nial du premier volet, on aurait pu s\u2019attendre \u00e0 un traitement plus profond, ou des choix plus innovants. C\u2019est en effet une suite tr\u00e8s r\u00e9ussie mais sans prise de risque (on est loin de la premi\u00e8re heure muette de \u201cWall-E\u201d, du prologue de \u201cL\u00e0-haut\u201d, ou de la conclusion de \u201cToy Story 3\u201d). Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l\u2019animation, ce sont en tr\u00e8s grande partie les m\u00eames d\u00e9cors, et du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la narration on a droit \u00e0 la m\u00eame r\u00e9solution consensuelle. En somme, <em>Pixar<\/em> a jou\u00e9 la carte de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 tant le succ\u00e8s \u00e9tait obligatoire pour le studio. Le traitement de la pubert\u00e9 reste par exemple tr\u00e8s lisse et seule Anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 s\u2019impose comme v\u00e9ritable nouveau personnage principal, quand des \u00e9motions comme Envie ou Ennui sont rel\u00e9gu\u00e9es \u00e0 de la figuration alors qu\u2019elles auraient tr\u00e8s bien pu enrichir cette vision de l\u2019adolescence.<\/p><p>Ce premier film en tant que r\u00e9alisateur, du v\u00e9t\u00e9ran de l\u2019animation Kelsey Mann r\u00e9ussit donc haut la main sa mission principale avec de beaux moments, des sc\u00e8nes dr\u00f4les, et une r\u00e9flexion int\u00e9ressante sur la psych\u00e9 humaine, le tout en \u00e0 peine 1h30. Bien qu\u2019un peu moins \u00e9mouvant ou cr\u00e9atif que le premier, il s\u2019agit bien d\u2019une suite intelligente et r\u00e9ussie.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">Rapha\u00ebl Sallenave<\/div><\/div><div dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\"><p>PS\u00a0: Malgr\u00e9 ses $200M de budget, \u201cVice-Versa 2\u201d affiche des chiffres hallucinants (m\u00eame pour un Pixar), avec un bilan comptable d\u00e9j\u00e0 positif, d\u00e9j\u00e0 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaire, d\u00e9passant en 10 jours le box-office total du premier volet. Cette suite r\u00e9alise en effet non seulement le meilleur d\u00e9marrage de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, mais aussi la meilleure seconde semaine aux USA et \u00e0 l\u2019international pour un film d\u2019animation, ainsi que la meilleure seconde semaine de la d\u00e9cennie tout court\u00a0! C\u2019est d\u2019ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0 le meilleur box-office mondial de l\u2019ann\u00e9e d\u00e9passant en moins d\u2019un mois la barre du milliard de dollars. Since the pandemic, the American animation studio had initially been relegated to streaming releases and then failed to recapture its former glory. In fact, last year&rsquo;s wonderful \u201cElemental\u201d was the studio&rsquo;s worst ever opening (somewhat compensated for by good word-of-mouth and strong legs). \u201cInside Out 2\u201d now stands out as <em>Pixar<\/em>&lsquo;s revival, with an excellent, intelligent and sensitive sequel that is once again winning over cinemas around the world. This is a deeply rewarding film for young and old alike!<\/p><p>Nine years ago, the studio with the lamp pulled off the feat of making abstract ideas such as the emotions that run through us at every moment tangible, while at the same time dissecting our behavior with humor and sensitivity. Quite simply, this was one of the studio&rsquo;s most original and imaginative films \u2013 both thematically and visually \u2013 putting viewers in a position to relate to and become aware of our own mental activities, thanks to a brilliant allegorical set-up in which our emotions are the characters and our brain is the setting for the adventure. In line with its predecessor, this film takes us back into Riley&rsquo;s mind at a pivotal age for inner upheaval, and thus for the emergence of new emotions such as Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui and, above all, the inevitable Anxiety.<\/p><p>The latter quickly takes the lead, between challenges of social integration, dilemmas between friendship and opportunity, and questions of physique. If anxiety takes over, nothing more can be done, but the film shows clearly that it&rsquo;s not just an ugly flaw, and that it can provide a certain perspective and, like all Riley&rsquo;s other emotions, help her to grow up. To this end, <em>Pixar<\/em> chose a definition understandable to kids and an eye-catching design: she&rsquo;s there to protect Riley from the dangers she can&rsquo;t see coming and; consumed by her infectious stress, she&rsquo;s always on high alert with her googly eyes and looks like with her hair she\u2019s taken an electric shock.<\/p><p>This second installment takes an intelligent look at the delicate transition from childhood to teenage years, with universal questions and circumstances that will bring nostalgia to everyone. While it mostly builds on the visual and allegorical universe of the first one, \u201cInside Out 2\u201d also introduces interesting new concepts such as the stream of thought or self-esteem, while delving deeper into the issues of memory, repressed emotions and the belief system \u2013 those ideas born out of lived experience that gradually forge an identity. The film succeeds in teaching children about their own complexity, while at the same time delivering engaging and entertaining adventure and characters. This is also a visually beautiful movie, very much in the style of the first one, but taking the liberty of going beyond its own style with a few unexpected inclusions of 2D and video games animation.<\/p><p>Nonetheless, given the huge potential of such a film based on the fantastic concept of the first movie, we could have expected a deeper exploration, or more innovative choices. In fact, it&rsquo;s a very good sequel, but one that doesn&rsquo;t take any risks (it&rsquo;s a far cry from the silent first hour of \u201cWall-E\u201d, the prologue of \u201cUp\u201d, or the finale of \u201cToy Story 3\u201d). In terms of animation, the sets are largely the same, and in terms of narration, we get basically the same consensual resolution. In short, Pixar played it safe, as success was a necessity for the studio. The depiction of puberty, for example, remains very straightforward, and only Anxiety really emerges as a new main character, while emotions such as Envy and Ennui are relegated to the background when they could very well have added value to this exploration of adolescence.<\/p><p>This directorial debut from veteran animator Kelsey Mann therefore achieves its main goal with beautiful moments, funny scenes and interesting examination of the human psyche, all wrapped under 90 minutes.
