Tourn\u00e9 \u00e0 hauteur d\u2019enfant, le film narre ainsi la vie d\u2019une famille fran\u00e7aise et montre l\u2019aveuglement colonial, mais laisse finalement plus place aux sensations et perceptions de l\u2019enfant qu\u2019\u00e0 un r\u00e9quisitoire sur l\u2019Empire fran\u00e7ais.<\/p><p>Cette nostalgie enfantine m\u00eal\u00e9e aux questions politiques sous-jacentes donne au film une atmosph\u00e8re \u00e0 la fois onirique et formaliste avec des sc\u00e8nes m\u00e9taphoriques et une belle dose de m\u00e9lancolie port\u00e9e par la musique d\u2019Arnaud Rebotini. Le protagoniste se r\u00eave ainsi en super-h\u00e9ro\u00efne d\u2019une France qu\u2019il n\u2019a pas connue et qui est pour cela mise en sc\u00e8ne en maquettes dans des s\u00e9quences d\u2019imaginaire fantasm\u00e9 tr\u00e8s inventives visuellement et plastiquement.<\/p><p>C\u2019est une \u0153uvre aboutie, avec un formidable casting (Charlie Vauselle, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Quim Guiti\u00e9rrez) restreint dans un format 4:3 sous l\u2019\u0153il de l\u2019enfant\u00a0: l\u2019\u0153il d\u2019un observateur t\u00e9moignant presque d\u2019une culture et d\u2019une \u00e9poque, un \u0153il figurant \u00e9galement la cam\u00e9ra de son r\u00e9alisateur. Robin Campillo r\u00e9utilise la m\u00e9thode adopt\u00e9e pour \u00ab\u00a0120 battements par minute\u00a0\u00bb, en abordant un sujet historique de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 travers plusieurs relations personnelles au sein d\u2019un groupe homog\u00e8ne (militants, militaires). Mais le point de vue progresse cette fois tout au long du film en d\u00e9marrant chez l\u2019enfant \u2013 dans son imaginaire \u2013 pour se d\u00e9porter sur l\u2019adulte et enfin sur le peuple malgache en changeant d\u2019optique dans sa derni\u00e8re partie.<\/p><p>\u00ab\u00a0L\u2019\u00eele rouge\u00a0\u00bb maintient un \u00e9quilibre d\u00e9licat entre intrigue intimiste et politique, entrela\u00e7ant souvenirs et sensations avec des faits historiques pour raconter la fin des illusions. Shot from a child&rsquo;s perspective, the film narrates the life of a French family and shows colonial blindness, but ultimately leaves more room for the child&rsquo;s feelings and perceptions than for an indictment of the French Empire.<\/p><p>This childhood nostalgia, combined with the underlying political issues, gives the film both a dreamlike and formalist mood, with metaphorical scenes and a good dose of melancholy driven by Arnaud Rebotini&rsquo;s score. The protagonist dreams of himself as a superheroine of a France he has never known, which is therefore depicted in models in visually and plastically inventive fantasy sequences.<\/p><p>This is a fully realized work, with a wonderful cast (Charlie Vauselle, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Quim Guiti\u00e9rrez) confined to a 4:3 aspect ratio under the eye of a child: the eye of a keen observer, almost bearing witness to a culture and an era, an eye that is also the director&rsquo;s camera. Robin Campillo reuses the approach he adopted for \u201c120 BPM\u201d, addressing a social historical issue through several personal relationships within a homogeneous group (militants, members of the military). This time, however, the point of view progresses throughout the film, starting with the child \u2013 in his imagination \u2013 then shifting to the adult, and finally to the Malagasy people, with a change of perspective in its final act.<\/p><p>\u201cRed Island\u201d delicately balances intimate and political intrigue, interweaving memories and feelings with historical facts to tell the story of the end of illusions. It&rsquo;s a tale devoid of Manichaeism, turning post-colonial nostalgia upside down, and speaking of revolution as a farewell to childhood.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r
