famille unie mais myst\u00e9rieusement marginale cherche \u00e0 se faire la plus discr\u00e8te possible. Phil\u00e9mon, Lucie et leurs parents veulent prendre un nouveau d\u00e9part, sans faire de vagues, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que leur drame commun les rattrape\u2026 R\u00e9compens\u00e9 du Prix du Jury lors du dernier Festival international du film fantastique de G\u00e9rardmer, \u00ab En attendant la nuit \u00bb est le premier long-m\u00e9trage de C\u00e9line Rouzet, et la carri\u00e8re de cette derni\u00e8re s\u2019annonce prometteuse !<\/p><p>Qualifiable de r\u00e9aliste-fantastique, le film n\u2019a de fait aucun effet sp\u00e9cial visible, mais aborde d\u2019une fa\u00e7on plus subtile et plus suggestive des questions relevant habituellement de l\u2019horreur. Les lieux et leur composition, pourtant plut\u00f4t ordinaires, prennent par exemple beaucoup plus de poids : la banlieue pavillonnaire et semi-foresti\u00e8re de Devecey se dote ainsi d\u2019une aura merveilleuse, \u00e0 la limite entre le beau et l\u2019inqui\u00e9tant, tandis qu\u2019un simple gymnase o\u00f9 sont organis\u00e9s r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement des dons du sang devient un lieu de tension. Sans oublier l\u2019imposant Pont de l\u2019Ab\u00eeme qui accro\u00eet la solennit\u00e9 de la sc\u00e8ne finale.<\/p><p>Quant au travail sur le son, la musique (sign\u00e9e Jean-Beno\u00eet Dunckel) et la photographie, celui-ci instaure une atmosph\u00e8re \u00e0 la fois fabuleuse et m\u00e9lancolique, \u00e0 l\u2019image du personnage principal de Phil\u00e9mon. Ce dernier, interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 remarquablement par Mathias Lego\u00fbt Hammond, se tapit autant dans l\u2019ombre de son environnement que dans celle de sa famille et de son chagrin\u00a0; il n\u2019est qu\u2019une p\u00e2le forme au milieu des reflets ternes \u2013 quoique parfois plus color\u00e9s \u2013 de son monde. Facette plus \u00e9motionnelle de la figure du monstre, le personnage de Phil\u00e9mon rev\u00eat tout le malheur personnel qu\u2019engendre le fait de se sentir diff\u00e9rent.<\/p><p>Qu\u2019importe par ailleurs la puissance de l\u2019amour dont il s\u2019abreuve, Phil\u00e9mon ne parvient plus \u00e0 se d\u00e9faire du d\u00e9go\u00fbt de sa propre personne. Accompagn\u00e9 pourtant de personnages attachants \u2013 de la m\u00e8re d\u00e9vou\u00e9e (\u00c9lodie Bouchez) \u00e0 la copine compr\u00e9hensive (C\u00e9leste Brunnquell) en passant par la s\u0153ur en or (Laly Mercier) \u2013 le jeune homme, lentement, raccroche. D\u00e9finitivement dramatique, \u00ab\u00a0En attendant la nuit\u00a0\u00bb finit par nous accabler enti\u00e8rement avec un sentiment d\u2019incompr\u00e9hension instill\u00e9 par son tout dernier plan. Phil\u00e9mon, Lucie and their parents want to make a fresh start, without fuss, until their shared drama catches up with them&#8230; Winner of the Jury Prize at the G\u00e9rardmer International Fantasy Film Festival, \u201cFor Night Will Come\u201d is C\u00e9line Rouzet&rsquo;s first feature film, and shows a promising career ahead!<\/p><p>What could be described as realistic-fantasy, the film features no overt special effects, but takes a more subtle and suggestive approach to issues usually handled by the horror genre. The rather ordinary locations and their composition, for example, take on much greater weight: the suburban, semi-forested suburb of Devecey takes on a marvellous presence, on the edge between the beautiful and the disturbing, while a simple sports hall where blood donations are regularly held becomes a place of tension. Not forgetting the towering Bridge of the Abyss, which heightens the solemnity of the closing scene.<\/p><p>The sound design, the score (by Jean-Beno\u00eet Dunckel) and the cinematography set a fabulous yet melancholy mood, just like the main character Phil\u00e9mon. The latter, brilliantly played by Mathias Lego\u00fbt Hammond, lurks as much in the shadows of his environment as he does in those of his family and his grief; he is but a pale form amid the dull \u2013 if occasionally more colorful \u2013 reflections of his world. Philemon, a more emotional facet of the monster figure, takes on all the personal unhappiness that comes with feeling different.<\/p><p>No matter the power of the love he consumes, Phil\u00e9mon can&rsquo;t shake off his self-loathing. Even surrounded by endearing characters \u2013 from his devoted mother (\u00c9lodie Bouchez) to his understanding girlfriend (C\u00e9leste Brunnquell) and wonderful sister (Laly Mercier) \u2013 the young man slowly looses his grip on life. Definitely dramatic, \u201cFor Night Will Come\u201d ends up overwhelming us with a feeling of incomprehension instilled by its very last shot. It&rsquo;s easy to forget why Philemon is so monstrous, and that&rsquo;s the sign of a truly outstanding first film.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s
