opus de la d\u00e9sormais c\u00e9l\u00e8bre franchise, \u00ab\u00a0Insidious: the Red Door\u00a0\u00bb nous emm\u00e8ne une nouvelle fois dans le myst\u00e9rieux \u00ab\u00a0Lointain\u00a0\u00bb. Ce cinqui\u00e8me volet reprend comme fil directeur notre cher Dalton (incarn\u00e9 par le m\u00eame Ty Simpkins) aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de son p\u00e8re Josh (jou\u00e9 par le quasi iconique Patrick Wilson pour sa premi\u00e8re derri\u00e8re la cam\u00e9ra), mais des ann\u00e9es apr\u00e8s les premiers \u00e9v\u00e8nements qui les ont boulevers\u00e9s\u2026 Et dont le p\u00e8re et le fils ne se rappellent plus\u2026 Or le royaume des ombres n\u2019est jamais tr\u00e8s loin\u2026<\/p><p>Apr\u00e8s un troisi\u00e8me et un quatri\u00e8me opus qui se sont un peu \u00e9loign\u00e9s de leurs personnages originaux, ce cinqui\u00e8me film renouvelle assez bien la franchise <em>Insidious<\/em> tout en revenant \u00e0 ses piliers originels. Le concept de base des voyages astraux \u2013 novateur car plus \u00e9sot\u00e9rique et un peu moins ancr\u00e9 dans la culture occidentale que les classico-classiques histoires de fant\u00f4mes et de possessions \u2013 nous projette toujours avec fascination dans ce \u00ab Lointain\u00a0\u00bb mystique que le personnage embl\u00e9matique d\u2019\u00c9lise conna\u00eet si bien. Le retour de cette gla\u00e7ante porte rouge dans les r\u00eaves et cauchemars de Dalton nous hypnotise autant qu\u2019il nous effraye, nous rappelant des frissons pass\u00e9s dont on ne se souvient plus trop.<\/p><p>L\u00e0 r\u00e9side sans doute la force de ce volet\u00a0: le film est liminal\u00a0; il sugg\u00e8re des \u00e9tats, des espaces, des moments essentiels et pourtant oubli\u00e9s, \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re entre r\u00e9el et astral, tant pour les personnages que pour les spectateurs qui peinent \u00e0 recouvrer la m\u00e9moire de ces voyages perdus dans le brumeux \u00ab\u00a0Lointain\u00a0\u00bb avec son rouge mena\u00e7ant et son bleu spectral si caract\u00e9ristique. L\u2019\u00e9volution du tableau peint par Dalton tout au long de l\u2019intrigue refl\u00e8te ainsi cette ludique mise en abyme du peu de souvenirs que nous avons des premiers opus.<\/p><p>Mais \u00e0 force de vouloir faire rappeler subtilement au public la jeunesse trouble de Dalton, le sc\u00e9nario perd de sa substance et s\u2019enferme dans un sch\u00e9ma pr\u00e9visible \u2013 voire exp\u00e9ditif. This fifth installment follows our dear Dalton (played by the same Ty Simpkins) alongside his father Josh (played by the almost iconic Patrick Wilson in his first time behind the camera), but years after the events that first shook them up&#8230; And that father and son no longer remember&#8230; Yet the realm of shadows is never far away&#8230;<\/p><p>After a third and fourth volume that strayed a little from their original characters, this fifth film brings new life to the Insidious franchise, while returning to its original pillars. The basic concept of astral travel \u2013 innovative in that it&rsquo;s more esoteric and a little less rooted in Western culture than the classic stories of ghosts and possessions \u2013 still fascinates us with the mystical \u2018The Further\u2019 that the emblematic character \u00c9lise knows so well. The return of that icy red door in Dalton&rsquo;s dreams and nightmares hypnotizes as much as it frightens, recalling past chills we can&rsquo;t quite remember.<\/p><p>This is undoubtedly the strength of this chapter: the film is liminal, suggesting moods, realms and moments that are essential yet forgotten, on the edge between the real and the astral, both for the characters and for the viewers, who struggle to recapture the memory of these lost journeys in the misty \u2018The Further\u2019 with its menacing red and distinctive spectral blue. The evolution of Dalton&rsquo;s painting throughout the plot reflects this playful <em>mise en abyme <\/em>of the few memories we have of the first film.<\/p><p>However, by trying so hard to subtly remind the audience of Dalton&rsquo;s troubled youth, the screenplay loses its substance and falls into a predictable &#8211; even rushed &#8211; pattern. Nevertheless, the movie remains enjoyable for the dark universe it (re)explores, and includes some nice surprises that will delight nostalgic fans of the early days of the
