En quelques mots :
Jason Momoa et Patrick Wilson nagent avec de belles palmes d’argent des moins bons films de l’année dans ce dernier film du DCEU pour une conclusion qui n’en est pas vraiment une. Réalisée par James Wan, cette suite nous plonge dans un scénario absolument sans intérêt, bourré d’incohérences et particulièrement mal joué (sans parler du montage pour éviter le plus possible l’inclusion d’Amber Heard). Alors même si c’est léger, décontracté, techniquement réussi, et avec des idées qui auraient pu être très bonnes – comme ce parallèle entre le conflit Atlantis-Terre et les catastrophes naturelles, ou la libération du 7e royaume maléfique et le réchauffement climatique – l’ensemble ne fonctionne tout simplement pas. Une fin bien pauvre pour un univers désormais abandonné et bientôt oublié.

Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson take the silver medal for the year’s worst films in this final film in the DCEU, for a conclusion that isn’t really one at all. Directed by James Wan, this sequel immerses us in an utterly uninteresting script, full of inconsistencies and particularly poorly acted (not to mention edited to avoid Amber Heard’s inclusion as much as possible). So even though it’s light, fun and technically well done, with ideas that could have been very good – such as the parallel between the Atlantis-Earth conflict and natural disasters, or the unleashing of the evil 7th kingdom and global warming – the whole thing simply doesn’t work. This is a very poor ending for a universe that is now abandoned and soon to be forgotten.
